The McQueen 8-Drawer Chest is strong, elegant and down-to-earth, made from honest materials including solid hardwood and cast iron. Its eight drawers provide maximum storage space, and feature detailing including dovetail joinery, cast iron handles, and soft-closing piston action. Designed by Matthew Hilton for his eponymous brand and manufactured by De La Espada craftsmen.
Details:
- Available in black walnut, white oak, or ash in a range of finishes, with drawer handles and legs of cast iron. *Pictured in Danish Oiled Walnut.
- Each drawer face made from a single plank of timber. Drawer interiors are made from basswood, a blond timber with outstanding stability in varying climates, ensuring a smooth-running function. Drawers are detailed with dovetail joinery and a soft-close mechanism.
- Crafted at the solar-powered De La Espada factory in Portugal. Designed by a creative partner and rigorously engineered with the support of our in-house product development team and expert craftspeople. Durability, comfort and aesthetics combine for a product that lasts a lifetime.
- Timber is sustainable solid wood from North America or Europe, offering long-term repairability of the surface. Natural colour and grain variations in every plank make each piece an individual. Traditional wood joinery bonded with wood glue ensures structural integrity. All finishes are non-toxic and applied by hand, sprayed or rubbed.
- Assembly of legs required.

Designer Matthew Hilton graduated with a degree in Furniture Design from Kingston Polytechnic in 1979. He went on to design products for a variety of well known manufacturers. In 1985 Matthew set up the Matthew Hilton Design Studio. He has also been given the highest honor in the field of Industrial Design in the United Kingdom, by being named a Royal Designer for Industry in 2003. In September 2007, Matthew established his own brand, Matthew Hilton Limited as a place he could have complete creative control. In 2008, he was named Designer of the Year by Elle Decoration at the British Design Awards.
